Giving back to the aviation community.
We have a long-standing commitment to help others. This takes many forms, including pro bono legal services, volunteer work, and financial support for worthy causes. As people passionate about aviation, we are drawn to organizations using aircraft to serve those in need. As people passionate about justice, we are drawn to those fighting for justice and in need of advocates. We are a small firm, and cannot help every good cause or every person who contacts us, but if you are in need of an advocate, call us and let’s visit.
Coats Aviation Law proudly supports organizations that:
Encourage young aviators,
Mobilize pilots to help others, and
Use general aviation to support their mission.
EAA Young Eagles

Launched in 1992, the Young Eagles program has dedicated 30 years to giving youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane. It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation. Today, over 2.5 million young people have enjoyed a free introductory flight through the Young Eagles program. These flights are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

Operation Airdrop

Operation Airdrop is a Texas-based 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing rapid relief to communities impacted by natural disasters. Founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Operation Airdrop mobilizes volunteer pilots and a diverse fleet of aircraft to deliver essential supplies to areas cut off from traditional aid routes. By partnering with local charities and organizations, they ensure that vital resources—such as food, medical supplies, and baby items—reach those in need within hours, not days.

Pursuit 53

Pursuit 53 disciples church leaders in South Sudan and mobilizes them as missionaries to their own people. Pursuit 53’s focus in South Sudan is on discipling church leaders. With both oral and literate tracks, they train indigenous church leaders over a course of some years. These discipleship training times take place in local churches and in homes and under trees as the Word of God shapes lives. In the initial years of training, the church leaders are focused on sharing the gospel and discipling others in their home area. After some years, they can move out by small airplane to carry the Good News to other parts of South Sudan.
